Angry Birds to fly into Facebook

Angry Birds to be available in Facebook

After a huge success with the mobile users, the makers of Angry Birds – Rovio – now plan to invade the social media market and try and increase their user base. Very strategic move I should say, but what is great about this move is that they have partnered with Facebook to host their super popular game. So all Facebook users will now be able to play the Angry Birds game within Facebook as an app. This means that Angry Birds just increased their user base by 800 million users. That’s a phenomenal jump in the user base and something that Rovio will welcome because their presence on the smartphone had pretty much saturated and they had to explore new territories.

Facebook on the other hand too will be smiling about this partnership because Rovio not just creates great Angry Bird games (with over 700 million downloads), but they have a great marketing strategy and they have a steady revenue from the merchandise as well. Facebook will not only expect their own user base to cross a billion but will also look at some in store presence for Facebook via the Angry Birds stores.

The official global launch is set to happen from Jakarta, Indonesia a country which has one of the largest user base for Facebook (43.1 million). The only two countries preceding Indonesia are US and India with 155 million and 43.5 million respectively. So why Jakarta? Because Jakarta alone has about 17 million Facebook users (that’s more than what New York has) and that makes for a compelling reason to have a launch there.
