Samsung releases Galaxy Beam, a smartphone that can also be used as a projector
The Mobile World Congress is springing one surprise after another. After Nokia unveiled the monstrous 41 MP camera smartphone, it was the turn of Samsung to display some of its innovation. Samsung demoed a new phone, the Samsung Galaxy Beam, which apart from functioning like a regular smartphone also has the capability to act as a projector and will be able to project the camera screen on any surface, just like a regular projector in an office conference room. Take a look at these set of images:
So while this is probably still in the demo stages it might be some time before these phones actually hit the market. Also the question arises of who would actually use this phone. Right now it looks like Samsung is positioning this phone to young users and not business users particularly. The reason being that business users will have access to a projector in office and if they want to display information in public domain then they might be wary of letting out confidential information. Right now Samsung is focusing on the students and young users who would want to show their photographs or videos to their friends in a college campus or their local hangout.
But Samsung’s demo of the phone was not guage the market but more to stake its claim in the highly competitive hardware innovation space.
