Twitter gets a redesign and new features

Twitter New design

Twitter New design

After years of successful operations with the design that made it so hugely popular, Twitter has gone in for a refreshing new look and feel for the entire website. The new design really is very refreshing and has considered key design elements like maintaining a clean and subtle design, ample breathing space and well segmented sections. They’ve moved things a bit and changed the layout from left to right but it looks great.

Apart from the design they’ve also added few new (and much needed) features, like the ability to expand a post and view the photo and video right below the post stream and not in another screen. Here are some additional features:

  • Ability to view who is following or @-replying you,
  • Ability to view who is favoriting or retweeting your tweets;
  • Ability to view Twitter results that are tailored to your interests
  • Ability to view Twitter results that are centered around your geographic location;
  • Ability to embed tweets in blogs and Web sites with a single line of code.
  • Ability to view branded Twitter pages.

Anyway, Twitter just didn’t flip the switch surprising everyone. On the contrary, they had the design switch for a few users in December just get some user feedback and it looks like they did receive some positive feedback. Starting today, all twitter users will be able to access the new design. This new design and features are not just limited to the PC users bit also Twitter users on the iPhone and Android.
